Reputation Points

Quality is important to us at MedCurbside, so we use a reputation point system to recognize users who make high quality contributions. If you’re ever wondering how to gain reputation, just ask yourself: “Will the community of my peers benefit from my contribution?”

You gain reputation when:

  • you create an account: +1
  • you verify your clinician status: +15
  • your question is voted up: +5
  • your question (with at least 1 citation) is voted up: +10
  • your answer is voted up: +10
  • your answer (with at least 1 citation) is voted up: +15
  • your answer is marked “accepted”: +15 (+2 to acceptor)
  • your answer (with at least 1 citation) is marked “accepted”: +20 (+2 to acceptor)

You lose reputation when:

  • your question is voted down: −2
  • your answer is voted down: −2
  • you vote down an answer: −1

You gain your first reputation point by creating an account, and you cannot go below 1 reputation point. Accepting your own answer does not increase your reputation. A vote or acceptance that is undone will result in the corresponding point allocation to be undone.
